Brief closure of Srinagar Airport creates panic among locals

Brief closure of Srinagar Airport amid tension between India and Pakistan on the Line of Control triggered panic among locals in south city areas here.
“After roaring sound of aircrafts created war psychosis among people from past some days, brief closure of Srinagar Airport added to our worries,” said Mukhtar Ahmad Khan a resident of Humhama.

“I have ailing parents at home so I thought it is better to shift to Soura to my relatives place for some days till the situation will get normal,” he said.
“Since the day additional troopers were deployed in Srinagar and the aircrafts started making rounds of the Srinagar Skies we have been living in constant fear. When we heard that Srinagar Airport has been closed and choppers were flying constantly, we planned to shift to our relative’s home till situation normalises,” said DrMidhat who lives at Airport road.
People in Kashmir woke up to the news that Pakistan has made airstrikes on this side of Line of Control. “News of plane crash in Budgam created more fear among us,” DrMidhat added. “We didn’t allow our kids to play in garden due to constant movement of choppers,” she said.
