CJ launches plantation drive

Chief Justice, Jammu and Kashmir High Court Gita Mittal, who is also Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority (JK SLSA) Saturday launched a plantation drive as part of annual weeklong plantation drive being organized by the Authority.

The drive has been launched in coordination with Forest department with an aim to usher in a more equitable and ecologically balanced earth. Following the guidelines issued by the government regarding maintaining social distancing and avoid gathering in view of COVID19, the Chief Justice planted saplings of pine trees at her official residence in Srinagar.

   

She underscored the importance and benefits of trees in maintaining ecological balance for survival of mankind and appealed all to plant more and more trees in their premises and surroundings as well. “It is worth reflecting that the true meaning of life is to plant trees”, she maintained.

Executive Chairman, J&K SLSA, Rajesh Bindal, also planted saplings of fruit bearing trees in the precinct of J&K High Court at Jammu. Justice Bindal said the the drive of this kind fosters a culture of responsibility towards nature amongst the citizens.
