Srinagar, Nov 30: Scores of Contingent Paid Workers (CPW) of Department of Education Tuesday staged protest here to press for holding of departmental promotions.

The protestors assembled under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir Contingent Paid Workers Union at Press Enclave here and raised pro-justice slogans. Talking to media persons, president of the Union Abdul Gani Malik said that holding of departmental promotions have been their long-pending demand.

“We were getting 50 percent quota under SRO-308 but later the department issued an order investing powers in Chief Education Officers to hold DPCs of CPWs,” he said.

“Authorities are only constituting committees and not conducting DPCs,” they said. The protestors also appealed to authorities to issue orders for their wages as per Minimum Wages Act.
