Coronavirus: Srinagar administration to launch district-wide awareness about precautions

The Srinagar administration is launching a district-wide awareness campaign about the coronavirus disease and the precautions that need to be followed to prevent its spread.

This was informed in a meeting with the concerneddepartments convened here Thursday under the chairmanship of the DeputyCommissioner Srinagar DrShahidIqbalChoudhary.

   

The awareness campaign will focus on precautions that needto be followed to prevent spread and acquisition of the coronavirus disease.

Several departments will be involved in the effort with theSocial Welfare and the Integrated Child Development Services or ICDSdepartments to play the main role therein.

The meeting was informed that the Health department of thedistrict has prepared the necessary knowledge material which will be sharedwith the general public as part of this awareness campaign.

The DC while speaking on the occasion said that in view ofthe fact that there is still no vaccine for the virus the awareness aboutprecautions that need to be followed was a key to preventing and its spread.

He said the administration is taking all measures possibleto prevent its spread in J&K and urged the general public to be wellinformed about this disease and the precautions that need following while notpanicking.

DrShahid said preventive measures are in place in Srinagarsince a month ago adding that these measures have now been enhanced afterreporting of confirmed cases in the country.

The meeting was informed that more help-desks are being setup in the district for the convenience of those requiring information about itor assistance with getting tested for it.

Officers and officials of Social Welfare and ICDSdepartments attended the meeting. Chief Medical Officer and DistrictEpidemiologist Srinagar were also present.
