Three persons were sent to jail by a local court here after they pleaded guilty to gambling charges.
Court of first additional Munsiff, Abdul Bari, Srinagar, announced the order after perusal of statements and confession statement.
“This court has analysed application of accused for confession and subsequently their statement was recorded in which they have voluntarily accepted that the confession they are making without any undue influence force or cohesion and they are capable to understand the consequences of such confession,” court said.
Court added that having regard to the confession made by the accused persons, the application for confession is allowed. “The accused persons are convicted and are sentenced to 15 day rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 500 each. The accused are forwarded to SP Central jail to serve their sentences,” court said.
The court directed that the stake money which have been seized by the police shall be remitted to government treasury. As per prosecution case, three persons were arrested by Rainawari police on 5 February 2019 after they were found gambling. Rs 4530 was also recovered as stake money along with playing cards.
