Srinagar, Dec 20: In connection with the celebrations of Good Governance Week being held from December 20 to December 26, 2021, under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, to ensure prompt & efficient public grievances disposal and improved service delivery to people, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Monday inaugurated an event at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh here.

Addressing the gathering, the DC said that “Good Governance Week” provides us an opportunity to march rapidly to create a transparent and efficient Public Delivery System and to further improve governance.

He called upon all District Offices to document at least one model good governance practice of the district and one successfully redressed Public Grievance case and upload on the portal for inspiration of other fellows.

With regard to the initiatives taken in the education system, the DC said a lot has changed in the period of last two years (since the first COVID-19 outbreak) during which so many industries have shifted online for the sake of safe and remote working and the education sector is no exception. Remote learning and teaching culture have given rise to various educational app ideas that are making it even more convenient for the students to stay home, stay safe and learn.

While appreciating the innovative initiatives taken by various departments in different sectors to streamline and improvise the Governance to benefit the common people, he lauded the efforts of Education, Health and other such departments which worked tirelessly in the public service.

He emphasised upon all district officers to set examples for other people by focusing on what good can be done for the welfare and benefit of people.
