Director General of Police & Prisons, Dilbag Singh, today paid a surprise visit to Central Jail Srinagar.
In a statement, police said the DGP, who is camping in the summer capital in view of the prevailing security situation, paid made surprise visit to the Central Jail. He was accompanied by IGP Kashmir Zone SP Pani, Range DIG Central Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi, SSP Srinagar Ismail Parray, SP north Sajad Ahmad and the technical staff. “The DGP took stock of the situation and the progress made with regard to segregation and other civil works going on in this high profile Jail. The visitors were briefed about the security and other aspects of the management of the Institution by the Superintendent incharge Mukesh Kakkar. They expressed satisfaction about the condition of the Institution and the welfare measures being taken for the inmates. The DGP and others also took a round of jail premises and interacted with the prisoners therein. This was the first visit of Dilbag Singh to any jail after taking over as DG Police,” the statement said.
