Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today convened a meeting to review the rehabilitation scheme for stone quarry workers of Athwajan and Panthachowk.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Joint Director Geology & Mining, Deputy Director Planning, SP City (west), Tehsildar Panthachowk Zone, SHO Panthachowk, representatives from Quarry Associations and other concerned attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed about the rehabilitation scheme for stone quarry workers of Athwajan and Panthachowk. The Divisional Commissioner directed the officers to provide single window clearance for allotment of alternate land to these affected workers on priority basis and asked them to submit clustering report within three days.
He gave a patient hearing to the grievances expressed by representatives of Quarry Associations and assured them redressal of their genuine concerns.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner conducted an extensive tour of Srinagar and reviewed the progress of various ongoing developmental works undertaken by Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA).
Reviewing the construction of Mehjoor Nagar Bridge which is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 45 crore, the Div Com asked the ERA officials to complete the wok within the fixed deadline so that the public gets benefited.
Later, Khan inspected the pace of dredging work from Rambagh Flood Channel. He directed the officials to constitute a monitoring squad to keep a check on illegal dredging.
