DM restricts entry of Ladakh travellers to Srinagar

District Magistrate Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has ordered restricted entry of travellers from Leh and Kargil areas to Srinagar.

The order states that only those travellers can enterSrinagar who have undergone quarantine for the specified two-week period immediatelybefore the intending date of travel and certified and cleared by the competentmedical authority in Ladakh.

   

Travellers from the region who will not have undergonequarantine in their region will have to undergo quarantine in Srinagar beforebeing allowed to proceed to their desired destinations.

The order also applies to road travellers from the region.The ferrying of passengers in Indian Airforce aircrafts has been suspendedaltogether till further notice.

Concerned authorities have been asked to ensure strictimplementation of the order and all instructions therein and ensure that noexemptions are allowed.

The order has been issued under section 34 of the nationaldisaster management act 2005 and is aimed at preventing spread of coronavirusinfection in Srinagar.

It should be noted these restrictions have been orderedafter surfacing of several confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Ladakh regionand are aimed at preventing spread of the infection in Srinagar.

Meanwhile, the Srinagar administration Wednesday sent 81passengers travelling in the Air India flight which arrived at Srinagar airportfrom Leh this morning to quarantine facilities to undergo quarantining fortwo-week period before being allowed to proceed to their respective destinations.

The shifting of the travellers to quarantine facilities is apreventive measure to ensure that these persons are not infected with COVID-19and is a part of larger measures and efforts of the district administration toprevent spread of the infection in Srinagar.

The remaining 25 passengers preferred to return to Leh andflew back. Meanwhile the District Magistrate Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudharyhas ordered restricted entry of travellers from Leh and Kargil areas toSrinagar.

The order issued under powers vested in the DM under thedisaster management act 2005 states that only those travellers can enterSrinagar who have undergone quarantine for the specified two-week periodimmediately before the intending date of travel and certified and cleared by thecompetent medical authority in Ladakh.

Travellers from Ladakh who will not have undergonequarantine in their region will have to undergo quarantine in Srinagar beforebeing allowed to proceed.
