Former head of nephrology at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Dr Ghulam Hassan Malik has been conferred lifetime achievement award by Tamil Nadu Kidney and Research Foundation (TANKER).
In a grand award ceremony of 29th "TANKER Annual Charity and awards" held in Chennai, Dr Malik was awarded lifetime achievement award for his contribution to the field if nephrology .The award is presented each year to a nephrologist who has a significantly contribution to the understanding in the field and service in the sector. The award consists of gold medal and a cash prize of Rs one lakh.
Dr Mailk, while accepting the award thanked the jury and pledged that the cash award will be utilized exclusively for funding hemodialysis of poor patients.
Dr Malik has served SKIMS as head of nephrology department and currently runs a private clinic.
