EJAC stages demonstrations

Government employees working in different departments Friday observed strike and staged protests to press for end to mob attacks on Kashmiris in Jammu and outside.

The call was given by employees joint action committee (EJAC) – an amalgam of various association. The employees staged protests at respective district headquarters, demanding safety of Kashmiris.

   

EJAC acting president Fayaz Ahmad Shabnum condemned the attacks on Kashmiri students enrolled in various colleges outside of state.

“What have the liaison officers appointed by the state government done as Kashmiri students are still bearing the brunt of communal miscreants. State machinery is doing nothing except issuing statements of assurances,” he said.

“In case there is no end to harassment of Kashmiris, we will chalk out future strategy on how to play ensure protection of Durbar move employees, students and other persons putting up in Jammu and outside,” he said.

Sajad Ahmad Parray, executive member of EJAC said that “today’s strike was a message to miscreants and other communal forces that their nefarious designs will be defeated.” “Kashmir has always remained an example of communal harmony and brotherhood. We denounce the attacks on Kashmiris in Jammu and outside,” he said.

Manzoor Ahmad Pampori, another EJAC executive member said that protests were held at district headquarters.

“Work remained suspended in all government offices today. EJAC leadership staged protest at respective district headquarters,” he said.

He said threat to Darbar move employees and their families in Jammu is a concern. “It is duty of Governor administration to take all measures form their protection and safety,” he added.
