Essay competition on Smart City Challenge

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone, who is officiating as Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) alongwith other officers of SMC on Thursday decided positions for the children who participated in the essay competition.

The first prize of Rs. 7000 was bagged by Furqan-Ul –Aalam, son of Muhammad Rafiq, resident of Rangparistan, Rainawari here. He is a student of Tyndale Biscoe School.

The second prize Rs. 5000 was bagged by Syed Usaib Bukhari, son of Syed Yasin Bukhari, resident of H. No 156 Sector 2 SDA MIG Colony Bemina. He is a student of S.P. Higher Secondary School.

The third prize of Rs. 3000 was bagged by Saima Hamid Bhat, daughter of Abdul Hamid Bhat, resident of Model Town A (Owasiya Colony) Sopore, Baramulla. She is a student of Model Institute Of Engineering and Technology. 33 children had participated in the essay competition.  

"On evaluation of all the essays it was found that there was profound interest of the young generation to see the Srinagar City as a Smart City in order to make it an eco-friendly, technically advanced with a basket of citizen centric services," officials said. 

They said that enormous feedback was also received in the form of written suggestions, on social networking sites. KNS
