Residents of Faqir Gujri area here on city outskirts are up in arms against Public Health Engineering department for failing to repair a damaged pipe from which they receive potable water.
According to Rafiq Famda, a resident of Faqir Gujri, the inhabitants continue to suffer after recent flash floods which destroyed the roads and hampered water supply to the area.
“Even after assurance from deputy commissioner and Member Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah, we have not been supplied potable water and continue to fetch water from uphill springs,” said Altaf Ahmad, another resident. According to them, the PHE’s main pipe was damaged due to flash floods in the area.
