Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Saturday convened a meeting to discuss the implementation of the national nutrition mission Poshan Abhiyaan in the district.
The meeting discussed the mechanism required to be put in place to ensure complete coverage of target groups and thorough implementation of the nutrition mission in the district.
The DC said the education department has an important role in the mission with schools hosting a major percentage of the target population.
He instructed the concerned departments to hold awareness camps about the programme for the information of the target population and also asked the Social Welfare department to organise nutrition mission weeks. Dr Shahid also directed for preparing a calendar of screening programmes needed to be held as part of the mission.
