In Ramadhan, city gets new evening food destination

Ramadhan night festival at Kashmir Haat here has become popular among people to break their fast and relish variety of dishes amidst cultural activities.

With several food-stalls set up in the market, cuisines ofdifferent varieties including traditional Wazwan has been made available toattract people in large numbers at the market which operates between 7:30 pm to8:30 pm.

   

A number of food stalls have been set-up inside the parkwith an ethnic Kashmiri touch. “We have provided platform to local foodprocessing unit holders to showcase different delicacies. It is mostly brandswho are into canning of food items which will attract people,” said Director, Industriesand Commerce, Kashmir, Mahmood Shah.

“We are offering more than a dozen varieties in the menuthat includes traditional Kashmiri and other delicacies. There is also aprovision for people to takeaway food for Sehri. The ambience presents aperfect environment for families to break their fast together,” Shah said.Among various mouth-watering delicacies offered at the stalls include kebabsand curries.  

Several other popular food brands in the night market offerdishes such as chicken tikka, garlic chicken. Many other stalls at the marketattract people with Wazwan delicacies while people will get a chance topurchase jams and jellies.

People with a liking for Mughlai food can visit the stallsthat have also been set-up at the night market.

Also, the Handicrafts Department has set-up a stall sellinghandicrafts while Academy of Art, Culture and Languages ( JKAACL) is planningto hold natia-qalam programs at this special night market in days to come.

“We will have local artists perform there and we hope tohave musical programs in days to come. Availability of handicrafts is anattempt to attract shoppers both locals and tourists,” said Shah.

The decorated stalls are expected to attract a large numberof people who are showing a great interest in evening activities.

“Such a great combination of art, culture, food andmusic is a treat for any person who wants to spend an evening at a qualityplace. I hope more such initiatives are taken in days to come to provide ameans of relaxation for both locals and tourists,” said one of the stallmanagers.
