Srinagar, Oct 29: Commuters have urged the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) to increase the closing time of the Multi-level Parking at erstwhile SMG in Lal Chowk.
The parking facility was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on October 16. “However the parking is presently functioning without any system.
Trained staff with proper uniform must be deputed at the parking. Lal Chowk is the business hub of Srinagar and is thronged by people till late evening hours. Besides shops, there are dozens of private offices from Polo View to Amira Kadal. So the parking must be kept open till 11 pm at least,” a group of commuters said. “We appeal to VC SDA to look into the issue,” they said.
“We also demand that closing time of the parking must be increased in the larger public interest. We will be taking up the matter with DC Srinagar and VC SDA,” Farhan Kitab said general secretary of Regal Chowk Traders Association.
