Srinagar, Dec 6: Residents of Indira Nagar here on Monday expressed resentment over delay in repair of damaged transformer in their locality.

Locals said that the transformer at Sector-B Indira Nagar lane number 20 developed technical snag on December 5.

Sahil Bhat, a local said that the transformer feeding electricity to the locality developed snag on Sunday afternoon.

“We are reeling under darkness for last 24 hours. PDD has failed to repair or replace the damaged transformer. We make a fervent appeal to Chief Engineer PDD to look into the matter,” he said.

Locals said that students, currently appearing in various exams, are facing immense hardships while other students are also unable to attend online classes as electronic gadgets are down for want to power supply. Various locals said that they also posted their grievances on social media including Twitter and tagging PDD with an effort to get its attention.

"We also raised the grievance and demand with local officials who assured the redressal. However, our pleas have fallen on deaf ears," locals rued. Concerned Assistant Executive Engineer Nisar Ahmad said that the damaged transformer has been replaced. "The power supply will be restored shortly," he added.
