Iqbal Colony residents decry low voltage

Residents of Iqbal Colony on 90 feet road Soura locality here have expressed resentment over low voltage.

“It has been more than a decade that we are suffering due to low voltage. We have been demanding installation of additional transformers but our request met with deaf ears,” they said.

“Due to overloading on transformer, we receive less than 50 volts of power. Due to this, our gadgets and other electronic items have developed technical snag. It is impossible to survive without electricity during such harsh weather conditions,” Javed Ahmed, a local said.

Executive Engineer PDD Khanyar said that due to overloading, voltage decreases automatically. “If there is more than 70 percent load on the current transformer, after checking the feasibility and protocols we can install another transformer,” he added.
