Residents of Jeelanabad Peerbagh here have urged the authorities to construct drainage system in their locality.

"In absence of drainage system, we face immense problems," said a delegation from the area

The locals said they held a meeting with Dr Farooq Lone, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar who is also officiating as Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation and A Majeed Raina, Joint Commissioner (works) SMC regarding the long pending drainage problem of the locality.

"Both the officers gave a patient hearing to the delegation and were conscious of the sufferings faced by the locals during winter months and rainy season when the whole colony gets water logged making it extremely difficult for elderly persons, women folk and school going children to move out of their houses. They assured to keep it in the current works plan of SMC," they said.

"We once again request the concerned authorities to mitigate the sufferings of the inhabitants by including the drainage system in the current works plan of SMC. We seek personal intervention of DC Srinagar into the matter," they said.
