KU gives supporting aids to disabled students

The Special –Cell Department of Students Welfare (DSW) University of Kashmir today organized a function at KU`s Gandhi Bhawan conference hall during which supporting aids and appliances were distributed amongst the specially-abled students.

The appliances and aids distributed on the occasion included wheel chairs, crutches, canes and other paraphernalia.

   

Distributing the walking and other aids and appliances amongst the beneficiaries, registrar KU Prof Khursheed A Butt who was chief guest on the occasion assured complete support of the KU administration towards such initiatives. “Such initiatives are aimed at empowering specially-abled students asked the special cell of DSW to come up with a proposal for procurement of mechanized wheel chairs as he said “Such mechanized wheelchairs could be operated easily by the students themselves,” he said. 

Dean College Development Council (DCDC) KU Prof Neelofar Khan, who was guest of honour, on the occasion said that the aim of such initiatives is to boost the morale of specially- abled students who are second to none and are one among the equals.

Dean Students Welfare DSW KU PROF GN Khaki while expressing gratitude to the KU administration for the support said “a special grant was approved by the KU administration for these aids and appliances so as to ensure comfortable stay of specially-abled students at the varsity.”

Besides Rehabilitation Officer, CRC Bemina Shameem Ahmad and Liaison Officer, PRC KU Mr Ozair Nissar several other officials from CRC Bemina and DSW KU were also present on the occasion. 

Cultural Officer KU Shahid Ali Khan conducted the proceedings of the function whereas Coordinator Special Cell, DSW KU Shaheel Mohammad proposed vote of thanks.  A special report prepared by special cell of DSW was also released on the occasion.
