Residents of many areas outside the Army's Srinagar- based 15 Corps headquarters Thursday said that sudden noise of Army helicopters flying over their localities gave them sleepless night besides triggering panic in the area.
Residents of Shivpora, Batwara and Indhira Nagar said that they couldn't sleep due to the loud noise of helicopters which were flying low in the air.
A group of residents from Shivpora area said that at around 10 pm on Wednesday, the helicopters began sorties and continued for almost two hours. "They were flying very low and there was a loud noise. We couldn't sleep besides there was a panic as well," they said.
They said that the windowpanes started shaking as the helicopters were hovering were low. "Our children got so frightened that they remain confined to their beds while asking us why are these helicopters flying over the roof tops of their houses," the residents of Batwara and Indira Nagar said. Meanwhile, Defence Spokesman in Srinagar, Colonel Rajesh Kalia said "nothing of this sort happened". "People don't need to worry. All is well," he said.
