Lovers of poetry and music on Tuesday descended in the seminar hall of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages where the blend of Zubaida Ali's voice and Abdul Ahad Azad's poetry mesmerized audience for hours.
The musical evening was arranged by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and J&K Bank under the 'Art for All' initiative of the Bank. The programme began with performance of Zubaida Ali. It was followed by a duet to which Aijaz Khan and Zubaida Ali lent their voices. After renderings of poetry by Aijaz and Zubaida, folk singer Muhammed Subhan Shah Rafiabadi engaged audience with his rendering of poetry of noted Kashmiri poets Raheem Saeb-e-Sopuri and Shah Qalandar. The highlight of the evening was the standing ovation with which the audience greeted the singers.
Pertinently, under the CSR initiative of the Bank such musical evenings are now being arranged on weekly basis so as to keep the younger generation of Kashmiris abreast with the rich and eventful past of Kashmiri music and poetry. First event of the series was held at Tagore Hall, Srinagar recently where such events will continue to be held every Tuesday.
