Residents of Mustafabad sector 2 (Lane 3) area of HMT here are up in arms against the PDD for failing to upgrade power infrastructure in the area.
A delegation from the area decried frequent snapping of power due to overloading of colony power distribution system particularly during evening hours.
They said the overloaded colony transformer cannot bear the load due to low capacity. "The problem is compounded by worn out power transmission lines which pose risk to colony inhabitants. Either the transformer should be upgraded or an additional one should be installed on priority. The existing sub-station is overloaded and the consumer at the tail end receive low voltage," they said.
The residents said that they had taken upgradation of power infrastructure in the area with PDD authorities. "We are surprised as the concerned PDD officials have put on hold the upgradation on the pretext that our substation has huge outstanding of electric fee arrears. It is ironical that PDD is making the bonafide customers who regularly pay fee to suffer. Let the PDD recover the dues from defaulters. However, the PDD is duty bound to improve the power distribution network in our area as it is our basic right," they said.
"We appeal advisor to Governor KK Sharma who holds power portfolio and chief engineer PDD to look into the matter and direct for upgradation of power infrastructure at the earliest," they said.
