Protests rocked Soura area here today against nocturnal raids and arrest of two youth.
Reports said that police conducted nocturnal raids at Anchar Soura and detained couple of youth. Police claimed that the duo was involved in stone-pelting incidents.
Locals however refuted the police claim. Witnesses said that people took to streets and fought pitched battle with police. They also blocked main road and disrupted vehicular movement. The protestors demanded immediate release of the youth.
A police official said that a youth has been arrested on charges of stone-pelting. "Despite repeated calls, the youth didn't present himself before the police. We sent a police party and arrested him from his house," he said.
