Old Gagribal residents irked over lack of safety measures for HT lines

Aggrieved over failure of PDD to put in place safety measures for High-tension transmission lines in the area, the residents of Old Gagribal have sought intervention of Governor NN Vohra into the matter.

A delegation of residents said that the HT transmission from Hanfia masjid to grid station pass close of trees and develop frequent faults during rains and windstorms.

They said during windstorm, the HT lines touch tree branches in nearby forest area resulting in short-circuit.  “Several times locals and tourists had narrow escape as HT lines were snapped and fell down. Last year a tree even caught fire due to short-circuit. We had apprised the concerned PDD authorities about the matter but no action was taken,” they said.

“We make a fervent appeal Governor NN Vohra to look into the matter and direct the concerned officers to ensure proper safety measures by either installing underground cables or protection wires under the HT wires which also pass close to masjid and health centre,” they said.
