Scores of residents of Mehjoor Nagar Wednesday staged a demonstration against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for what they said its failure to provide water supply to the area.

The protestors, mostly females, blocked the busy Jawahar Nagar road and raised anti-government slogans.

However, concerned Station House Officer pacified the protestors and assured them that their grievance would be taken up with concerned authorities.

The blockade of road by protestors gave tough time to the commuters as hundreds of vehicles on the either side of the Jawahar Nagar-Rambagh route remained stranded for around 40 minutes.

"We have been facing acute shortage of water for past one month. We have time and again taken up the matter with concerned authorities who assured us redressal. However, our pleas have fallen on deaf ears," the protestors said.

The protestors appealed to MLA Amira Kadal, Syed Altaf Bukhari and concerned departments to resolve the issues without any further delay.
