Rains lashed the summer capital on Saturday even as the Meteorological department has predicted that inclement weather will continue till September 1

Officials said Srinagar received 3 mm rains. An official of Meteorological department said that light to moderate rains would occur at most of places in Kashmir during next 24 hours.

"The inclement weather would continue till September 1. However, there would be occasional sunshine during this period. The weather would improve likely from September 1 evening," he said.

The maximum and minimum temperature recorded in Srinagar were 22.9 degree Celsius and 17.2 degree Celsius respectively. The 300-km Srinagar-Jammu highway remained open for traffic on Saturday despite the rains lashing areas on both sides of the Jawahar Tunnel.

Flights operated from Srinagar International Airport and no flight was cancelled.
