Second round of Saaz te Awaaz held
Teams from north Kashmir's Bandipora district today topped the second round of ongoing inter school Kashmiri musical competition Shirin: Saaz te Awaaz at Delhi Public School here.
The six teams who had earlier qualified first round, competed with each other on Wednesday and on the basis of performance judges declared best three teams for next round.
The three teams from district Bandipora who qualified the inter-school singing competition today for next round, are— Boys High School Sadoonura, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Bandipora and Government Middle School Shadipora.
Arshid Ahmad Margo, Abid Ahmad and Shazia Mir were awarded for 'performance of the day.'
In an effort to revive poetry of renowned Kashmiri poets, the Delhi Public School (DPS) Srinagar under the aegis of DP Dhar Memorial Trust is holding Shirin: Saaz Te Awaaz—a maiden two-month long Kashmir musical competition which began on August 17, this year.
The second round competition which began today, started with singing of a beautiful Kashmiri song by students. The performance of each team was appreciated by the audience.
Syed Sumaira, Programme Coordinator, said that the competition is becoming interesting as the qualifying teams work hard to perform best to qualify for the next level of competition.
Vijay Dhar, Chairman DPS said, "it gives us immense delight to see that our children are performing on Kashmiri nout and other Kashmiri musical instruments and sing the lyrics of Ahad Zargar, Rosul Mir and other renowned Kashmiri poets."
