Shutdown observed in Nagbal, Soura areas

A spontaneous shutdown was observed Monday in Nagbal and Soura areas following rumours of death of a youth injured in government forces’ action.

The youth was injured on Sunday during clashes in Shopian district.

   

Shops and business establishments were closed in Nagbal and Soura following rumors of death of the youth Muhammed Rafiq Parray a resident of Rangil area of Nagbal in Ganderbal district. 

Earlier in the day, scores of youth staged protest at Nagbal chowk and blocked the road. However, police swung into action and restored the vehicular movement. 

Locals said that the youth was critically injured after forces opened fire on the mourners during funeral of Al- Badr commander Zeenat ul Islam on Sunday.  The youth was admitted at SKIMS and is on ventilator support.

Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan, said that the “youth is better now and he has been taken off from ventilator and shifted to ward.
