SKT&MCC appeals admin to ease COVID19 restrictions

Shahre Khas Traders and Manufacturers Coordination Committee SKT&MCC) on Wednesday appealed district administration to ease the restriction in view of the upcoming eid.

A joint statement by Chairman of the Committee, Nazir Ahmed Shah and President, Bashir Ahmed said the ongoing period was very crucial for the traders to earn some livelihood, for which traders have been waiting since a long time.

“But the fresh lockdown has cast a disastrous impact on the business. We are also aware about the rising number of COVID19 cases and are not therefore opposed to the idea of lockdown to prevent the spread of the disease, but we just want to convey to the administration to consider giving the business community a relaxation in view of upcoming Eid festival,” they said.

They said it will not only enable people to make necessary purchases for Eid, but will also enable traders to earn livelihood.

“Presently, we are suffering from a problem, which is more dangerous than COVID, which is starvation, due to the suspension of business activities,” they said. “So it is imperative for the government to keep the aspect of our survival also into consideration and devise a strategy where we will not be suffering.”

They said traders will follow every instruction and guidelines issued by the government if the lockdown was eased. “We will create our own teams, which will monitor the implementation of the guidelines and if any trader is found violating the SOP, we will not allow him open his shop”, they said.
