SMC Commissioner suspends 2 officials

Srinagar, Nov 27: Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Saturday placed two officials under suspension and attached Chief Enforcement Officer to the office of Joint Commissioner for dereliction of duties.

The order issued by Commissioner SMC Athar Aamir said, “whereas, it was reported that a major construction by Javaid Ahmad Soli S/o Wali Mohammad Soli at Main Chowk Hajam Mohalla Batapora is being constructed without due permission. A team was sent on the spot and it has been prima facie found that the construction is being done without proper building permission.”

   

“Whereas, prima facie it appears that the concerned Ward Officer, Zonal Enforcement Officer (North), have failed to take the necessary action as was due in this regard which is serious negligence of duty. The Ward Officer, Ward No. 13 Irshad Ahmad Akmali, Zonal Enforcement Officer (North) Bashir Ahmad are hereby put under suspension with immediate effect,” the order said.

It added that Chief Enforcement Officer Mudasir Hussain Banday is also attached with the office of Joint Commissioner Adm (R).

The Commissioner has also ordered an inquiry in the matter and directed that probe be concluded within seven days.

“Joint Commissioner (Adm) Riyaz Ahmad Shah and Joint Commissioner (Works) Rajinder Singh shall do the detailed enquiry and submit a report within 7 days,” the order reads.

The incumbent Chief Revenue Officer has been given the additional charge of Chief Enforcement Officer till further orders.
