Commuters faced immense problems due to massive traffic jam in the city-centre area during evening relaxation in shutdown by separatists.
In absence of traffic cops, hundreds of vehicles were stranded in a gridlock in Residency Road, Lal Chowk and Polo View. The gridlock worsened by wrong parking on roads.
"I got stranded for an hour in unending traffic jam from Regal Chowk to Polo-View," said Inam Ahmad, a commuter.
Seconding him, another commuter said that he returned back from Residency Road after finding it difficult to move an inch in the traffic jam on the main road.
The commuters accused some private car owners for traffic mess. "They parked their cars at roadsides while some were waiting on middle of the road. It worsened the traffic jam. It is not possible to have smooth passage of traffic on the two way road when half of the road has been encroached upon by wrong parkers," said Muzamil Ahmad, a commuter at Residency road.
