Calling for beautification of Hazratbal Shrine, Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Health and Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash, today directed Municipal authorities to relocate vendors from the shrine premises.

The Minister said this while chairing a meeting of concerned officers regarding face lifting measures to be taken around Hazratbal shrine.

She directed the officers to find a suitable place for the vendors in the shrine vicinity.

Asiea sought a Detailed Project Report (DPR) from the officers with regard to beautification and face-lifting of the premises within a month.  She said vendors at Bus stand and Dhobi Ghat will be relocated to some suitable places and the space will be given a facelift and more public conveniences will be established near the shrine.

Asking the concerned officers to personally visit the spot so that DPR is prepared well in time, the Minister also issued instructions for developing the lakefront on the backside of the Dargah so that it is made attractive for the visitors.

The Minister directed the officials to develop the banks of lake around the shrine which will improve the ambiance of the place. She also issued instructions for landscaping the parks along the banks to make them more attractive for visitors.

It was given in the meeting that the face-lifting of the shrine will be taken up under Centrally Sponsored Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme.

Chief Engineer R&B Satish Razdan, ADDC Srinagar Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, CEO Wakf Board Fayaz Ahmad Lone, Director Tourism Mehmood Ahmad Shah, Chief Town planner and other senior officials attended the meeting.
