Workshop on disaster management held

Caritas India, a humanitarian organization working in the field of disaster management, organised a five day capacity building workshop here on community disaster preparedness and adoption of resilient livelihood  practices for three vulnerable districts of valley.

The organisers in a statement said workshop was held inpartnership with Jammu and Kashmir association of social workrs (JKASW), hopedisability centre (HDC) and catholic civil service society (CSSS). The workshopwas facilitated by association for stimulating knowhow, a Delhi based resourceagency engaged in capacity building, research and evaluations.

   

Caritas India,  inpartnership with JKASW, HDC and CSSS has been implementing the Ecosystem basedDisaster Risk Reduction program called SHIRKAT in 30 villages of valley’s fourdistricts Srinagar, Anantnag, Pulwama and Bandipora.

“SHIRKAT aims to reduce the risk of disaster andincrease the community capacity through engaging and train them on differentaspect of disaster,” a statement issued after the workshop said.
