Brothers of 3 slain militants detained in Shopian

Brothers of three slain militants were picked up by the government forces in an overnight raid in Shopian district on Sunday.

Local residents said that scores of government forces raided the Heff village of Shopian at night and detained Shaker Paddar and Saheel Ahmad Wani, brothers of slain militants, Sadam Paddar and Nasir Ahmad Wani.

   

Sadam Paddar, a Hizbul Mujahidin commander was killed on 6 May along with four other associates. Nasir Wani, an LeT militant, was killed last year during an anti-militancy operation in Arwani area.

In another raid, government forces arrested Suhail Ahmad from Maldair area of Shopian district. Ahmad is the brother of slain militant Irfan-ul-Haq. Forces from nearby camp raided the Heff and Maldair villages and picked three youth for questioning, said a police official who did not divulge the reason behind the arrest of the trio.
