Bunker row: Tak says will surrender security, challenges Sunil Sharma to keep his word

Member of legislative council and PDP spokesperson Firdous Ahmed Tak has decided to surrender his security after former minister and senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma accused him of opposing installation of bunkers in Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas for “political gain”.

“I don’t want the security and I appeal the state government and the director general of police to withdraw my security cover as soon as possible. I will be writing a separate letter to them also,” Tak said while addressing party workers in Kishtwar.

“I was accused by former MLA Sunila Sharma that my opposition to the installation of the bunkers is only for political gain and he promised that he will join me if I surrender my security,” Tak said

“Now I am a free man, without any security protocol as I accepted his challenge. If Sunil Sharma is real Brahmin, he should keep his word and join me in opposing the installations of bunkers in Kishtwar town,” Tak said.

Tak said he never allowed the police to install bunker outside his home since it will create hurdle in free movement of his neighbours and the people living in the locality.

“We don’t want the SOG and the army bunkers where people will be paraded. On the pretext of militancy, the BJP wants to restart the era of fear-psychosis, where youth are called in for questioning in police stations,” he said.

“People are being stopped outside Banderkoot army camp and on Sinthan road and put to unnecessary harassment and mental trauma. The schools including on at Dachhan where children from all religions were studying were occupied by SOG,” he said, adding, “We don’t want that atmosphere again.”
