Ex-bureaucrat Farooq Shah joins NC

Former bureaucrat Farooq Ahmad Shah Monday joined the National Conference in presence of the party president Farooq Abdullah.

Welcoming Shah into the party fold, Abdullah said the National Conference will benefit from his experience in public life.”His acumen for administration will benefit the party. I am hopeful that Shah sahib will make the party stronger at grassroots,” Abdullah said in a statement.

   

Shah, who recently opted for voluntarily retirement, has served at many key positions in the state administration.

The National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah, while welcoming Shah into the party-fold, said: “Shah sahib has had a celebrated career. He has always lent a helping hand to the needy and poor. I am sure he will continue to work for the cause of poor masses from the party platform”.

Hailing from Hardushoora village in Tangmarg area of northern Baramulla district, Shah has worked at several key positions, including secretary PHE, I&FC; secretary school education department; secretary tourism department; secretary services selection board; deputy commissioner Srinagar and Anantnag; director general tourism and managing director JKTDC; director tourism Kashmir; deputy commissioner, excise and taxation and managing director J&K cable car corporation. 

During his service career, he has been conferred with several awards for his work.  

On the occasion, Shah maintained that “sincerity of thought of the National Conference vice-president, the history of service and sacrifice of the party obliged me to join the party”.

He vowed to take forward the “mission” of NC founder, late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah. 

“I will work alongside the party’s rank and file in ensuring that the party’s flag flies high in the Tangmarg constituency,” the statement quoted Shah as saying.

Among others, party’s general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Chowdhary Muhammad Ramzan, Nasir AslamWani, Muhammad Akbar Lone, Mubarak Gul, ShameemaFirdous, BasharatBukhari, ShammiOberoi, Javed Dar, Peer Afaq, TanvirSadiq, Showkat Mir, MushtaqGuroo, Imran Nabi Dar and SabiyaQadri were also present on the occasion.
