FLASH FLOODS: 7-year-old old boy killed; several houses, roads damaged

A seven-year-old boy died after he was swept away by flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall on the previous night here in Jammu’s Channi Ram area, police said.

Meanwhile, several pacca structures and roads suffered damaged due to heavy rainfall on Tuesday night.

   

 “Around 15 houses and several link roads in Bathindi, Janipur, Bhalwal,PhallainMandal and Akhnoor areas of Jammu were damaged partially in the incessant rainfall,” DC Jammu, Ramesh Kumar told Greater Kashmir.    

SHO ChanniHimmat police station, Muhammad Aslam said that Eid Muhammad son of Muhammad Sultan of village Hani, tehsil Bikapur and district Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh at present Pamposh Colony, Channi Rama, Jammu died.

The police officer said that the deceased was living along a stream in a shanty with his parents when he was swept away in the floods.

 “The body of the deceased boy has been recovered from the flooded stream and handed over to his family members after performing the legal formalities,” the SHO said.
