The global investors’ summit is likely to be held in coming spring in J&K, with business tycoons from across the country and global firms expected to participate in the high-profile business event.
An official said the final dates for the summit were yet tobe finalised.
“It is likely to be heldcoming spring. Once the dates are finalised the invitations will be sent to thedelegates,” said the official.
An official said the government was expecting investors fromacross the country and some global firms to have threadbare discussions oninvestment in J&K. Many Unionministers are also likely to attend the summit.
The official saidrepresentatives from business houses like Confederation of IndianIndustries(CII), CEOs of multi-national companies, and authorities from publicsector undertaking companies including National Highway Authority of India,National Hydroelectric Power Corporation, National Thermal PowerCorporation(NTPC) were also likely towill also participate in the summit.
Besides, the official said the J&K government departmentswill also be part of the mega business event.
“The idea is to streamline investments in J&K and alsoease setting up of industries here,” said another official.
He said the government was targeting investors from 14identified sectors including tourism, agriculture, horticulture, poultry,health and wellness, herbal medicinal and some other manufacturing andlogistics.
“It will be a platform where the investors will get aninsight on how to set up their businesses in J&K without any hassle,” saidthe official, adding the existing policies and logistics with the departmentsconcerned will also be discussed.
“The idea is to involve all and find ways to attract theinvestment to J&K,” explained the official.
In a bid to smoothen the process, the existing business andinvestment policies of different departments were being “reviewed” to make theminvestor-friendly.
“The government is also taking feedback from departments andindustrialists,”‘ said the official.
He said the leading businesses men from J&K will havediscussions on trade and investment with industrialists from within the countryand abroad.
The officials claimed the investors’ summit of “such amagnitude” was being held for the first time in J&K.
“We had a summit here before 90s. However, it was a smallevent considering the magnitude this summit is expected to have,” said theofficial.
