Imran Khan, Afridi anguished over Kashmir killings

Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan and flamboyant Shahid Khan Afridi on Tuesday expressed anguish over civilian killings and prevalent situation in Kashmir.

“Strongly condemn the brutality of Indian forces against innocent Kashmiris and the killing of unarmed civilians in IOK. The people of Pak stand with the Kashmiris democratic struggle for self determination. The UNSC must act against Indian aggression in IOK,” Khan said in a tweet.

Earlier Afridi, in his message on social media, expressed surprise over lack of efforts by United Nations in ending “ongoing bloodshed” in Kashmir.

“Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir. Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other int bodies & why aren’t they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?” tweeted Afridi.

Later in the day Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir slammed Afridi for his tweet on Kashmir saying the Pakistani cricketer “is, as usual, celebrating a dismissal off a no-ball”.
