India, Pakistan again trade fire along LoC in Poonch, Rajouri

Rajouri/Poonch, Jan 9: TTdistrict.

An official said that the firing started at 9 am in Gulpur area during which the armies of the two countries used small and heavy arms, besides mortar shells to target each other.

   

He further said that after two-hour-long firing, a brief lull prevailed, but, later, cross-broder firing resumed and continued till late noon.

“At about 9 am, Pakistan army initiated unprovoked firing by small arms and also shelling with heavy caliber weapons in Gulpur. The Indian army retaliated strongly and effectively,” Lt Col Devinder Anand, army PRO, said.

However, there were no reports of any casualties or damage to properties on the either side.

The exchange of fire and shelling started last week in the area and has been continuing intermittently since.

Meanwhile, the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged heavy fire and shelling along the Line of Control in Rajouri district as well on Wednesday.

As per details, firing started on forward locations of the LoC in Kalal area of Nowshera and later, the two sides fired mortars to target each other.

The sound of explosions triggered panic among the residents, reports said. There was no immediate report of any loss of life or injuries so far.
