JLNM Hospital achieves milestone

The minimal access surgical (MAS) unit established Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial  (JLNM) Hospital at Rainawari here has achieved a milestone by crossing 2000 mark of minimal access surgeries.

Dr Kunzes Dolma, director health services Kashmir complimented the operative team and the administration of JLNM Hospital for achieving 2000 surgeries mark on 15th November. She called it a “milestone” and assured the hospital of full support in upgrading its facilities for efficient for patient care.

   

“The MAS unit was established at JLNM is a high output surgical unit. It has performed 2004 minimal access surgeries till 15 November 2018 since its inception. MAS surgeries are performed through small button hole incision using high end equipment. These surgeries include gall bladder, appendix, ventral and inguinal hernias, varicoceles, orchidopexy, orchidectomy, hydatid cyst liver, ovarian cyst, ectopic pregnancy and diagnostic laparoscopic procedures for chronic abdominal pain, infertility and staging for malignancy,” DHSK said in a statement.   

DHSK said laparoscopic procedures have been a routine at JLNM Hospital along with various other peripheral district hospitals in past.  The MAS team receives administrative support of Dr Zakir Hussain, medical superintendent of the hospital and is headed by Dr H Vaqar Ahmad. The team is assisted by qualified MAS Dr Akhter Ganai,” the statement added.
