Magam residents demand Kupwara-bound SRTC bus service via Nagri

Kupwara, Jan 3: The residents of Magam area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district Wednesday appealed the authorities to start Kupwara bound State Roads Transport Corporation bus service from Geeripora Magam area, so that the sufferings of people could be lessened.

The residents said that Magam area consists of a huge chunk of population who face several hardships with regard to their travel to Kupwara.

They said that the students, shopkeepers and employees face severe difficulties while reaching Kupwara due to lack of direct transport service. “The people from our area are forced to visit Handwara by travelling over 9 kilometers and then board a Kupwara bound vehicle there,” a local, Mohammad Amin told Greater Kashmir.

“We have taken up this issue with concerned authorities on several occasions but unfortunately nothing has been done in this regard so far,” he added.

The locals appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Ayushi Sudan to look into the matter so that this genuine demand of people is redressed.
