Minor ‘rape’ victim’s interview: JJB asks police to probe

The Juvenile Justice Board, Ganderbal, has asked the police to investigate into a violation of the Juvenile Justice Act that occurred when some person interviewed a minor girl who was allegedly raped by her neighbour in the district a few days ago.

The Act prohibits disclosing the name of a child victim ofsexual violence. The interviewer had disclosed the identity of the girl and thevideo had been uploaded on social media.

   

The JJB has asked the concerned Station House Officer toinvestigate the matter and register a case in accordance with relevantprovisions.

The Principal Magistrate JJB, who is also Chief JudicialMagistrate Ganderbal, asked the Legal Cum Probationary Officer, JJB Ganderbal,to send the video clip of the interviewer to the SHO.

The Board that comprises of the Principal Magistrate and twomembers has asked police to file the compliance report before 22 May.
