Probe against engineer for ‘unauthorized absence from duty’

Jammu: Public Works (R&B) Department has ordered a probe against an executive engineer for alleged unauthorized absence from duty and proceeding outside the country for several years without seeking permission.

“He allegedly remained unauthorized absent from the service for several years and proceeded abroad without seeking permission from the Government,” said an official privy to the circumstances leading to the probe. The executive engineer, according to an official, has been attached with the R&B Department.

   

“In terms of Rule 33 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956, Rajinish Kumar, JKAS, Additional Secretary to the Government, Public Works (R&B) Department, is hereby appointed as Inquiry Officer to conduct an enquiry into the charges framed against Incharge Executive Engineer (Civil) Asif Iqbal Zargar and served to him vide Memorandum No. PWD-ADM/21/2021-05 dated 31-08-2021,” reads an order issued by Principal Secretary, Public Works (R&B) Shailendra Kumar.

Meanwhile, Under Secretary, Public Works (R&B) Department Hamid Hameed shall be the presenting Officer. “The Inquiry Officer shall complete the enquiry and submit his report within a period of one month from the date of issue of this order,” reads the order of the Public Works Department.
