RMSA teachers without salaries for 4 months

The teachers recruited under Rashtriya Madhiyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) this year are without salaries from past four months.

As many as 550 RMSA masters were recruited by School Education Department in state’s high and higher secondary schools on contractual basis under RMSA in February this year.

“We received salary for only three months after our recruitment in the department,” said a group of teachers recruited under RMSA.

The teachers said they are facing hardships as their salaries have been withheld.

“We approached authorities several times but we didn’t get any concrete response from them,” they said.

The teachers under RMSA are paid a monthly salary of Rs 30,200. An official said delay in release of salary of RMSA teachers is due to deferment of annual Project Approval Board (PAB) meeting, convened by Union Home Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in New Delhi.

“The meeting is usually convened by MHRD in ending March and funds get released in April. But this year MHRD merged SSA and RMSA into one integrated Samagra Shiksha due to which the meeting was deferred,” he said.

He said annual allocation for 2018-19 year including the salary funds for these teachers was released late as compared to previous years.

“The central share of funds has been received by state government in the month of September and we are waiting for sanction from Finance Department,” he added.

State project director (SPD) Samagra Shiksha, Tufail Ahmad Matoo said salary of RMSA teachers will be released within 20 days
