‘Safety and security’ message of SWC this Women’s Day

The message of the Jammu and Kashmir State Women’s Commission for this Women’s Day is “providing safety and security to women folk”.

The message calls for empowerment of women in all government sectors.  

   

“We can say a woman has been empowered when an ordinary woman gets respected and represented in every political, economic and social institution; when her political, capacity and talent get recognised at home and in offices; when she is not deprived of equal opportunities, incentives and budgeting in national and state institutions; when she has not to give up her aim of achieving big because she is discriminated against by her own family,” the message reads.

“Her empowerment needs to start at home and institutions will follow the trend,” it added.

Nayeema Ahmad Mahjoor, chairperson of the commission, said, “Women have to take a lead role in the formation of institutions. She needs to come out of the victimhood mentality and demand with authority her share in property, jobs and decision making.”

 “Women have to make the institution of marriage very strong which has become vulnerable due to greed and degradation in society.”
