Shaheen Bagh activists leave protest site due to rain

The sit-in site at Shaheen Bagh, the epicentre of the protest against new citizenship law (CAA), looked deserted on Thursday evening as rain lashed parts of the national capital.

To protect themselves from the rain, protesters took shelterin corridors of the showrooms.

   

“We have not vacated the protest site, but takenshelter in the showrooms to escape the rain.The Supreme Court-appointedinterlocutors Sanjay Hegde and Sadhna Ramachandran on Tuesday requestedprotesters to vacate the site as the Holi gift to the commuters.

They were there to initiate second round of talks withprotestors.

“We expect that our sisters will send love to India onthe occasion of Holi from Shaheen Bagh. Sisters can give the Holi gift inadvance. We will celebrate Holi this month. We will hug each other onHoli,” said an interlocutor.Theyalso told protestors that their demands had been conveyed to the Supreme Court.”Whatever you wanted, we conveyed it to the Supreme Court. We havesubmitted our report to the Supreme Court,” said an interlocutor.
