Shut down in Shopian, Pulwama

A near total shut down was observed in twin south Kashmir districts of Shopian and Pulwama for the second consecutive day on Friday to mourn the killing of three militants in the area.

On Saturday, three militants were killed during a firefightwith the government forces in Yarwan woods of Shopian district.

   

All the shops, business establishments and most of theeducational institutes remained shut in both the districts, while traffic waslargely off the road.

A police official said that some youth threw stones onforces at Murran chowk of Pulwama.

The forces, in turn, responded by firing tear smoke shells,the official said.

Meanwhile, mourners continued to trickle into the nativevillages of slain militants to offer their condolence with the bereavedfamilies. GKNN
