Strike against Bursar Dam called off

Minister for Power Development Sunil Kumar Sharma  on Sunday reached out to the agitating residents of Marwah and Warwan, who have been demanding cancellation of Bursar Hydroelectric Power Project since long as they have raised concerns about the submerging of villages due to accumulation of water to generate hydro electricity.

Sharma accompanied by DDC Angrez Singh Rana, SSP Abrar Ahmed Choudhary and other district officers including authorities from NHPC reached out to the agitating locals who were supposed to go on hunger strike.

   

Sunil while dealing with the situation assured locals that government is willing to listen to their concerns and will come out with a solution taking into account the development of the area as a whole.

While interacting with the people of Marwah, he listened to their issues patiently and said that hydroelectric projects are always meant for development and prosperity of the people.

He further assured people that a delegation from Marwah Warwan region will accompany him to New Delhi and raise their issues before the concerned committee since the said project is governed by the Union Ministry and executed by NHPC.

Urging local populace to act wisely and pave way for development of the district, the Minister further added that people need not panic and fall prey to anti-developmental activities.

Minister also held public grievance redressal camp in the area in which various demands of the locals were resolved on the spot and other were taken into the consideration to act upon them within stipulated period of time.
